2 August 2017

By-elections for Nandyal assembly seat are becoming tough for ruling Telugu Desam Party. Latest twist is Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy quitting TDP and Joining YSRCP. Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, TDP MLC is the younger brother of Shilpa Mohan Reddy the YSRCP candidate from the Nandyal constituency.  Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy said that he took the decision as he was unable to put up with the insults being heaped on him in the party.

Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy addressed the media and said the he had faxed his resignation letter to Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu. Chakrapani Reddy said he would join the YSR Congress Party at the public meeting to be addressed by party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the SPG grounds in Nandyal on Thursday.

With the defection of Chakrapani Reddy, TDP and Bhuma Nagireddy family are now focusing to carry out the message of development activities TDP has initiated in Nandyal. With former MLA, Minister Farooq still deciding to whether to go with TDP or YSRCP, Politics in Nandyal elections are talk of the state now. Both TDP and YSRCP are taking this by-election as a prestige issue and are doing everything they can to win the elections. YS Jagan is touring the assembly constituency to influence the voters so as Chandrababu Naidu. He too planned to do election campaign in Nandyal.
