As per the latest intelligence reports, AP CM, Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the former DGP of the combined Andhra Pradesh, HJ Dora are in the top 3 prime targets of the Maoist hitlist. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Raman Singh tops the list. These 3 people took this place because of the anti-naxal operations they performed over a period of time.
Both Singh and Naidu are known to act tough against Naxalites in their respective States and HJ Dora acted as intelligence head and as well as the DGP between November 1996 to February 2002. During this period of time, he conducted a considerable number of police encounters to wipe-out naxals. Those acts also came to the human rights activists. Chandrababu also narrowly escaped from a life and death situation when people’s war group naxalites tried to his life when suspected People's War naxalites exploded a land mine targeting Naidu’s motorcade on the Tirumala ghat road in October 2003. Fortunately, Chandrababu could survive from the attack with some minor injuries and fracture to his right hand and collar bone, nose and mildly on chest.
This blast happened when his official fleet travelling nearby Alipiri toll gate. It may be recalled that a staggering 1,588 people were killed in various encounters between September 1, 1995 and May 13, 2004 when Naidu was the Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh. However, the central home ministry has recently cautioned the CMs by providing the latest information on the naxals’ hitlist.
